The non-profit Association of Postgraduate Students and Alumni of the Master’s Program of the Department of German Language and Literature of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) was founded on 30th May 2014. Its purpose is to maintain relationships and foster cooperation among its members, as well as to represent postgraduate students and alumni of the Master’s Program. The Association aims to promote collective research activity in all academic fields represented by the Department, as well as to cultivate communication and mutual support among its members. Another objective is the exchange of academic experience on both national and international level and, more generally, the support of scholarly activities related to German language and literature. Membership is open to all postgraduate students and graduates of the Master’s Program of the Department of German Language and Literature of NKUA, as well as to anyone interested in German language and literature.

Activities

  • Literary Circle since February 2015
  • Meetings/discussions focusing on German literary texts
  • Organization of a symposium featuring presentations by postgraduate and undergraduate students, as well as doctoral candidates (First symposium held in 2015)
  • Participation in conferences organized by the Department
  • Translation group

The Association’s translation group collaboratively translates literary texts from German into Greek. It has already published a volume containing articles by Kurt Tucholsky (Kritiki Publications, 2021).

Current project: Wilhelm Hauff – Fairy Tales (selected stories)

Members of the Association participate in literary presentations organized by the Greek-German Association Philadelphia.
