ERASMUS

Erasmus+ is the European Commission's programme for education, training, youth and sport, which aims to promote skills and modernise education, training and youth systems for the period 2021-2027 and has been in force since 1 January 2021. It replaced the EU programmes covering all areas of education: the Lifelong Learning Programme - Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius, Grundtvig, Tempus, etc.

The Erasmus+ programme is divided into 3 key actions (KA) for education, training and youth, namely:

Key action 1 (KA1/BD1): mobility of people

The Action supports mobility projects that enable beneficiaries to travel to another participating country to study, work, teach, train and develop professional qualifications and skills.

Key Action 1/KA1 is implemented on two different axes:

Mobility actions between programme-countries

The countries designated as "Programme Countries" that can participate in all Erasmus+ actions are as follows:

- the 28 Member States of the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden)* - 7 countries outside the European Union (United Kingdom, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia und die Turkey).

*Switzerland poses an exception, as it was listed as a programme-country in the previous Erasmus programme, but is now listed as a partner-country and it has the responsibility to finance the costs of outgoing and incoming mobility.

International mobility measures between programme and partner countries

The countries designated as "partner countries" participate in certain programme actions under special conditions. Further information on these countries and their participation opportunities can be found at: http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/about_el#tab-1-1

Key action 2 (KA2/BD2): Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices

Supports projects under centralized and decentralized actions that reinforce the following:

- Strategic partnerships in the fields of education, training and youth (decentralized action)

- Knowledge Alliances (centralized action)

- Sectoral alliances for skills (centralized action)

- Development of opportunities in the youth field (centralized action)

Key action 3 (KA3/BD3): support of political reforms

Supports Member States' public policy reforms and promotes cooperation with third countries, including the exchange of good practices.

The Erasmus+ programme also includes:

- Implementing Jean Monnet Actions (an evolution of the Jean Monnet Programme in place since 1989) aimed at promoting excellence in teaching and research in the field of European studies worldwide.

- Implementation of actions in the field of sport
