ACCESS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Accessibility Service Unit for students with disabilities (Accessibility Unit)

The Accessibility Centre for Students with Disabilities at the University of Athens aims to provide students with disabilities with an accessible study experience in terms of equal opportunities and has the following services to offer:

  • A service to record the specific needs of each student with a disability
  • Accessibility to the university building at a specific location
  • Special transport services to and from university for students with disabilities
  • Assistive technologies
  • Free software for students with disabilities
  • Accessible teaching materials
  • Accessible workspaces at the university libraries
  • Relay service with simultaneous interpretation into Greek sign language to enable communication with fellow students, teaching staff and university employees.
  • Volunteer work by students to support students with disabilities.
  • Guidelines for the compensation of disadvantages for students with disabilities during exams
  • Psychological counselling service for students with disabilities

In each department/faculty there are:

a. A representative professor/ lecturer and a deputy for the counselling of students with disabilities and

b. A responsible and deputy employee in the office for students with disabilities.
